Lauren Crandall of Fultonville was crowned Miss Mohawk Valley 2014 during the annual pageant held Saturday (January 25th) at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central School. She will receive a $1000 scholarship and the opportunity to advance to compete in the Miss New York Pageant this May and from there could possibly go on to the Miss America Pageant. Crandall was also the recipient of a $100 community service award. She is a student at SUNY Oneonta and will spend the next year appearing throughout the Mohawk Valley and promoting her platform called "EASY: Education, Advocacy, Safe Spaces and Youth Groups".
Miss New York, Amanda Mason was the co-host for the event that culminated with Crandall being crowned by outgoing Miss Mohawk Valley 2013, Amanda Abdagic of Utica. Other awards were as follows:
Catherine Banks of Canajoharie - First runner-up and recipient of a $500 scholarship as well as a $200 spirit award scholarship
Katherine Crandall - Miss Congeniality, recipient of a $100 scholarship for the award plus an additional $100 scholarship
Heather Graves - non-finalist talent winner, recipient of a $100 scholarship
Richelle Reynolds - non-finalist swimsuit winner, recipient of a $100 scholarship The Miss Mohawk Valley Scholarship Pageant was presented in partnership with the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Junior FFA.
