Who Is eligible to be Miss Mohawk Valley?
If you are a single young woman between the ages of 17 (and a high school senior on track for graduation) and 24 (not older than 24 as of December 31st of the year you are competing) who is living, working or going to school full time in Oneida, Herkimer, Fulton or Montgomery Counties you could be the next Miss Mohawk Valley. What are the competition categories?
- Private interview (taking place prior to the stage show with the panel of judges)
- Lifestyle and Fitness in Swimsuit (modeling a one or two piece swimsuit)
- Talent (no longer than 90 seconds)
- Evening Wear (modeling formal attire of your choice)
- On Stage Question (a spontaneous question selected at random from a basket)
What are the prizes?
The Miss Mohawk Valley Scholarship Program makes scholarships for education available for the winner and runner-ups named each year during our annual pageant. There are additional scholarships given for Community Service and Miss Congeniality awards. The winner of the Miss Mohawk Valley title will advance to the Miss New York Pageant. The winner from that contest will advance to the Miss America Pageant.
What is the national platform?
Each contestant who enters the Miss Mohawk Valley Scholarship Pageant will be asked to fulfill a service requirement by raising at least $100 for the Children's Miracle Network-Miss America Scholarship Fund Partnership. This is the national platform of the Miss America Organization and all local contestants are asked to support this cause.
Who is eligible to be Miss Mohawk Valley's Outstanding Teen?
Miss Mohawk Valley's Outstanding Teen pageant is open to teen girls between the ages of 13 and 17 (and a junior in school, not yet a high school senior) who do not turn 18 prior to July 31st of the year of the national finals for which they could be eligible.
What are the categories for the Outstanding Teen Pageant?
Similar to the Miss category, Outstanding Teen contestants are judged in categories including interview, talent (no longer than 90 seconds) evening wear and on stage questions. There is no swimsuit category for teens. In place of this category they will model sportswear.
What is the prize for becoming Miss Mohawk Valley's Outstanding Teen?
Miss Mohawk Valley's Outstanding Teen will have her registration paid to compete representing the Mohawk Valley title at Miss New York's Outstanding Teen Pageant. The winner from that contest will advance to the Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant.
Are there opportunities for younger girls?
Each year the Miss Mohawk Valley Scholarship Program hosts several youth pageants. Generally there are several age categories for girls between the ages of 3-17 and some events include additional categories for boys ages 3-7 or young women 18-24. We also host an annual youth talent showcase. When events are planned the details are posted on this site under "related pageants and fundraisers".
